he central region of Bahia State was once famous for its diamonds, but it’s
now the best-known spot for eco-tourism in all of Brazil. The beautiful
mountains, waterfalls, and natural pools all help to make this a very special
place to visit. The Chapada Diamantina National Park is surrounded by historic
mining towns such as Andaraí, Lençóis, Palmeiras, Mucugê,
and Igatu. Of these, Lençóis surely has the best infrastructure
for visitors, with many restaurants, bars, and hotels to suit all tastes
and budgets, and the greatest number of nearby natural attractions.
